To Do... or Not!

Routine. A word that's a part of us as much as any of our five senses. We wake up every morning, creating a mental list of activities for the day, what we proudly call, our TO DO list. Some of us even jot it down in those little diaries in order that none of our priorities for the day escape our busy minds.
We set constant reminders on our mobile devices, calendar markings and what not.
While we might assume that we organize our daily activities based on our concept of priorities, the fact remains that we are driven by our banal routines.

Ever considered breaking out of it, acting on your impulse, setting yourself free? Strike off a task on your To Do list, not because it's complete, but because you don't feel like it today! Well obviously this can't be a task as important as making a submission at work or attending a meeting, but starting small would be liberating enough!

Why does everything have to be set in a specific pattern anyway? I love the abstract, I love the uncommon and the unknown. And I'd love to break away from my mundane activities. However, there is a coward in me (as much as in anyone else), that pops up rather often; one that refrains my instinct from ruling my mind; one that tells me "every action has an equal and opposite reaction". The fear of rejection or causing disappointment reminds me that structure and routine is good, it is the safe way out...always. And that's eventually the route we opt for.

So the question tomorrow shall be: To do... or not to do...
As will be the case day after, and the week after that...until I conquer my routine and
place my will and impulse over and above all.

Until then... To do or not to do...
